Anzac Day Services

Proston
RSL sub-branch conduct a dawn service on Anzac Day at 5:30am at the cenotaph, Collingwood Street, Proston. Attendees are invited to enjoy light refreshments after the service the the RSL rooms.

Hivesville
Anzac Day dawn service at 5:30am at the memorial in the main street, followed by breakfast. Vietnam Veterans Day is remembered each year on August 18 at 10:00am, followed by Lunch. Remembrance Day is celebrated on 11 November each year, followed by lunch. Ring Trapper Ramke on 4168 9755 for more information.

Anzac memorials can be found in Hivesville, Proston and at Boondooma Homestead. Anzac Day celebrations are also held at the Boondooma Homestead each year.

Birdwatching

Lake Boondooma, Reinke Scrub. Reinke Scrub is less than 4kms from Proston. To get there from Proston turn into Rodney Street, drive past the school and turn right into Weir Road. Travel approximately 1.5kms to a T-junction. Turn right at the T-junction. The Conservation Park is within a few hundred metres on the left.

Car Rally

Proston Car Rally Club Incorporated runs a truly family weekend, this event is held every three months on the first weekend of February, May, August, and November and includes time trials; various Classes; burnouts at 5:30pm Saturday and a learners program. Learners can start as young as 12 years of age. Participants require a Motorsports Australia license, and be a club member: $30.00 Seniors, and $15.00 Juniors (12 years to 18 years of age). Nominations are Senior $70 and Junior $35.

Food and soft drinks, bar, hot showers, and toilets facilities are available. Free camping. Bring your swag, tent, caravan, ute or bus. Everyone is welcome.

The track is located 7Kms (on the left) west of Proston on the Proston Boondooma Road on a private property. Just follow the signs. For more information telephone Barry Taylor on 0402 517 909.

Christmas Carnival

The Proston Christmas Carnival is a fun-filled street carnival held each year in December, before Christmas, in Blake Street Proston, and includes raffles, ham wheel, food stalls, bar, jumping castle, merry-go-round, Christmas carols, Santa and much more. Proston
Free Council Transfer Station is located at the top end of Beresford Street, Proston. All residents or property owners who require access to the Transfer Station are requested to register with South Burnett Regional Council to receive a 6 digit access code. Please register by telephoning 4189 9100 during office hours.

Hivesville
Free Council rubbish trip is located in Oberle Road, off the Murgon-Hivesville Road, just past the sportsground.

Proston Craft Group meet every Wednesday at 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Old Railway Station, Rodney Street, Proston. Cost $2 includes a cuppa or two. Bring whatever you are currently working on and enjoy good fellowship, or be taught

Proston Golden Spurs Line Dancers meet every Monday night at 6:30pm at the Proston Public Hall. Cost $3.00. Dancers’ motto: “Friends, Fitness and Fun”. Beginners and all ages welcome.

Garden Clubs

Proston Garden Group meet on the first Thursday of each month at ‘Rose Park’, 12 Okeden Road, Proston. Members gather by 9:15am for car-pooling if a garden is to be visited; or stay the morning at ‘Rose Park’. Bring a plate for morning tea. All interested persons are welcome to join ... no fees ... no formal business. You are invited to take the opportunity to meet new friends, learn more about managing a garden in our area and enjoy the diversity of gardens in our beautiful district. Proston Golf Club and greens are half a kilometre west of Proston on the Proston-Boondooma Road on the left. General competition each Sunday, names in by 10:15am for 10:30am hit off. Cost $7. Social Games $6 per person, any number of holes. Social golf, every Friday at 3.30pm, either 5 or 9 holes. Cost $5. Bar is open when golf competitions are on. Very reasonable prices, friendly atmosphere. All welcome.

Historic Home

Historic Boondooma Homestead, Museum and Heritage Complex is located 45 minutes west of Proston, at 8262 Mundubbera-Durong Road Durong. The complex is open 7-days from 9:00am to 4:30pm. Admission is $5.00. Guided tours are available. Buses and caravans welcome. Grass site for camping is available for limited stays, and whilst there are toilets, there are no showers. Proston Show

The Proston Show is held in March every year at the Proston showgrounds. We have cattle, horse and poultry judging. Other events include woodchopping, chainsaw events, sideshow alley, entertainment for all the family and fireworks.

The main pavilion is a great meeting spot for the locals to compare their entries in the many different classes that can be entered into, such as cooking, horticulture, sewing, photography, fine arts, handcrafts and farm produce.

RSL

Proston RSL Sub Branch is located at Collingwood Street, Proston and meets on the second Saturday of each month at 10:00am. All visitors are welcome. Anzac Day Dawn service is held at 5:30am on 25th of each April at the Memorial in Collingwood Street, followed by finger food and light refreshment in the RSL Rooms. All are welcome to attend. President is Mr Fred Adams-White.

The Proston Pool is located in Collingwood Street (opposite the State School). Opening hours are: Monday to Friday 6.00am to 7:30am; The hours of 9.00am to 3.00pm are reserved for school use. The pool reopens to the public from 3.00pm to 5.00pm. The pool is open on weekends, public holidays and school holidays holidays from 12noon to 5.00pm.
